Hello, world!

Hello and welcome to Book Bytes, my fellow readers!

I have started this blog because I noticed that I read a lot of books.  In fact, I just went on a count right now and I found fifteen books.  I'm talking about a two-foot radius here, folks.  I'm surprised I have room to walk in my bedroom.  But I do.

Now, some of them I've read once.  Others I've read many times.  Others I haven't bothered to read.  But I do make sure to read an entire book.  Some I've half-finished because of projects that required more urgent attention.

I believe it would be best, friends, to start a schedule and put it at the beginning of every month.  Posts will be Thursdays, except for special occasions(*).  Right now I shall present you with a schedule.  With this month being July, the birth month of the author of the Harry Potter series (as well as the main character(***)) and the release of the sixth Harry Potter film, this month is very largely going to be 'Harry Potter Month'.

7/2/09 - Introductory post
7/9/09 - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by J.K. Rowling
7/10/09 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, by J.K. Rowling
7/13/09 - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, by J.K. Rowling
7/14/09 - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, by J.K. Rowling
7/15/09 - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, by J.K. Rowling
7/16/09 - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, by J.K. Rowling (**)
7/17/09 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by J.K. Rowling
7/23/09 - Tales of Beedle the Bard, The by J.K. Rowling
7/30/09 - Magyk, by Angie Sage
7/31/09 - End-of-month musings on books, on writing, or life in general.  I would prefer that all suggestions for future reviews be put here, though of course all comments/questions are appreciated.

Tentatively, the first entry of the month will be used to update the readers on how my life is going.  Very generic details, like this one(****).  I am new to the idea of 'professional' blogging, which I hope this turns into.  There is nothing I like better than a good book.  How about some generic, but interesting facts?  The Other Bookish One (who I shall call TOBO in subsequent posts) and I met at Barnes and Noble.  Oh, I also happen to be a fiction writer.  I am currently a university student, hoping to obtain a Liberal Arts degree.  Which reminds me of a joke:

Q: How do you get someone with a Liberal Arts degree to get off your porch?
A: Pay for your pizza.

Oh, how I do love that one.  But that is for another entry.  Perhaps another blog.  Political commentary has no place on a review blog, unless of course the subject matter requests it.

One more small fact about myself: I am trying to change my ways and become more used to blogging.  So I promise you, with my hand on an outrageously-tall stack of books, that I will not neglect this blog.  So, to prevent this, I have begun a tentative August schedule.

With this I bid you goodbye (except for the footnotes....).  May all your books be well-written, lest your roommate have horrible ducking skills.  No wonder I can't find a roommate......

*Special occasions meaning: there's a movie coming out and I am reviewing an entire series based on one installment, someone died, someone got arrested, real life intervened, college intervened, or I forgot.
**Okay, so yeah, I know, that's one day after the movie for Half-Blood Prince comes out.  But I am actually offline most Saturdays, as I am either with the Other Bookish One, or working.  So I decided that would be my day off.
***And my father.
****I like footnotes.
